In my humble opinion, there is nothing quite like the arrival of Spring Break. Just when it seems like I can't go on much longer, it graces me with its glorious presence. It means a week of not thinking about school, sleeping in late, staying up later, and all sorts of random adventures. This year was no exception.
To start it off, my cousin Landon gave his homecoming talk which meant a Sunday filled with family and yummy food! Nice to finally have these two boys back.
Since the weather was so wonderful, on one afternoon we set out on a bike ride/picnic to the park. Our picnic consisted of every single kind of sandwich you can think of, orange soda, and Wal-Mart cookies. It also consisted of some graceful (except not) Frisbee throwing and a spilled water jug that soaked our picnic blanket.

For Alex and Alyssa's birthday we decided to hit up all the free food joints since we could get double the discount! That's what's up. We had breakfast at Joe's Farm Grill, dinner at Joe's BBQ, and dessert at Liberty Market. Needless to say, we are grateful that Alex and Alyssa were born. And for guys named Joe who give away free birthday food.
In between meals we made a stop by Cinemark to see Oz the Great and Powerful! Have you seen it? Because you should! And not just because it has James Franco in it. It was a magical whimsical movie. I might even have teared up at the end. Just go see it.
Let's also take note of the sweet shirt I got Alex for his birthday. Awww yeah. Now we're cookin' with peanut oil.
As the break was coming to a close, we thought it would be fun to go camping. Since we didn't have alot of planning time or desire to drive up to the mountains, we decided to camp in Tori's back field instead. We set up sleeping bags and chairs around the fire pit and spent the night eating tinfoil dinners and pizza we ordered. Now that's my kind of camping. We played some hide-and-go seek type game, which turns out is quite dangerous in the dark. Some of us *cough*Katie*cough* had a little spill and a close encounter with a tree. Also, since it was pretty warm out, we set off on the first scorpion hunt of the year. While we only got two, we did get the cops called on us because someone thought we were trespassing, so that was cool. Little did they know, we were saving innocent people from painful scorpion stings. As the night went on it got pretty chilly, which meant I basically didn't sleep. Then around 7 AM someone decided we should all wake up since it was such a beautiful morning. However angry I was at this rude awakening at the time, I'll admit..it WAS a gorgeous morning. And our rooster made it up to us by taking us to his house for breakfast. Special thanks to his mother for always feeding us:)
Saturday was spent in preparation for a little surprise party I had been working on for the twins. Did you really think I'd let them turn 16 without throwing them a party? Stay tuned for a post of all the party details!
Some other noteworthy events not pictured above included: Crafting and making quilts with Miss Berry, hopefully I'll have a picture of the finished product sometime in the near future! Spending an afternoon laying on the lawn and watching the clouds. Spending a late night chatting on the roof and gazin' up at the stars. Country dancing at 12 West. And of course, basking in the greatness of JT and Jimmy Fallon on Timberweek.
Well Spring Break it's been real. It's been fun. It's been real fun. I'm gonna miss you and singing "Spriiiing Break two-thousand thirteen," in a Tom and Donna-like manner.
