Once upon a time on a lovely
Spring Break morning,
the sun was shining, the sky was clear...
...and the weather was perfect.
Not too hot, not too cold.
'Twas a PERFECT day for canoeing.
So we set sail around 10 AM and began our journey...little did we know what awaited us.
We began paddling along, enjoying ourselves when all the sudden we stumbled upon a terrible sight.
The water level was oh so shallow and our watercrafts were scraping against the bottom of the river bed. We dragged our way through this shallow spot and saw hope on the other side. We carried on, but had to encounter said shallows spots at least 12 more times.
4 hours later...yes...FOUR!!!
We wanted to give up.
We discovered that we still had four miles to go. FOUR!! So some brave souls decided to run to the car and try and come find us.
Meanwhile, we ran into some friends.
Oh hello wild horses and your forty some friends.
Thanks for making a wall in the river so we can't pass by.
You guys are the best.
And thanks for fighting and whinnying and freaking us out.
But really, thanks for not trampling us and for moving 20 minutes later.
By this time we had no food left, and very little water.
We decided it would be okay if we died out on the river. It'd be a good story.
But, just our luck. Ryan got a ride to his car from the ranger, after wandering in the desert searching for the road.
Finally, he came and rescued us.
We didn't have any casualties. Whew.
So the moral of the story is, if you want to have an adventure, Go to the Salt River when there is barely and water and don't take very much food and water.
You're in for a treat:)
